Free PDF · for homeowners planning an exterior repaint

Is the outside of your house ready to be repainted?

A short, plain English checklist for homeowners. It walks you through the weather windows that suit exterior work, the surface problems worth spotting before anyone quotes, what good preparation actually involves, and the questions that separate a careful decorator from a cheap one. Print it, walk round the house, mark it up. Free, ungated past your name and email. No mailing list.

What's inside

Two pages of practical prep, written for the person who owns the house.

  • Weather and timing: the conditions exterior paint needs to last
  • Surface checks: flaking paint, render cracks, rot in fascias and soffits
  • What good preparation looks like, and why it matters more than the paint
  • The questions to ask a decorator before you accept a price
  • What a written quote should actually spell out
  • How a tidy job manages mess, access and your day to day
  • The handover: leaving the house clean with snags put right

Written by Tomas Nejedly (MD) and Pawel Kalisiak (Director). A Star is a director led UK decorating contractor. We hold £10m Employers' Liability and £5m Public Liability cover, and our team is Dulux Academy trained.
