A Star Decorators

07 / coatings

Restore weathered cladding on commercial buildings. No replacement needed.

TOR and spray combination systems for profile sheet, rainscreen and curtain wall cladding. Substrate-matched cleaning, RAL-matched finish and a system selected after survey.

Roof, wall and cladding coatings. A Star Decorators

When this is the right route

  • Cladding profile is structurally sound but the finish is fading, chalking or failing adhesion.
  • Replacement is capital prohibitive, planning restricted or simply too disruptive.
  • Brand or estate consistency requires a matched colour across multiple elevations.

Scope · included

  • DOFF steam or chemical cleaning preparation
  • Primer and topcoat system to substrate type
  • MEWP or scaffold access, edge protection in RAMS
  • Specified product and application record

Scope · not included

  • Cladding panel replacement
  • Insulation and backing works
  • Roof membrane works

Process

  1. 01

    Survey

Cladding type (profile sheet, cassette, ACM, rainscreen), adhesion test on existing coating, substrate condition, RAL reference, access assessment (roof parapet, elevation height, MEWP reach or scaffold requirement).

  2. 02

    Specification

Cleaning method first: DOFF, chemical or pressure wash, matched to the substrate. Primer and topcoat are then selected for the surveyed condition and exposure. A sample panel is agreed before full application.

  3. 03

    RAMS

RAMS written for the project covering cleaning run off containment, MEWP or scaffold access plan, edge protection specification, wind loading restrictions on spray application, COSHH.

  4. 04

    Delivery

Clean substrate, prepare any surface defects, mask glazing and penetrations, prime in passes, apply topcoat. Phased by elevation so the building stays operational throughout.

  5. 05

    Handover

As-applied record (product batch, film thickness and weather conditions at application) plus a before/after photo log.

Built for the people who buy decorating

Three audiences. One delivery model.

We are a specialist subcontractor, not a turnkey fit out outfit. We deliver decorating, spraying, restoration and coatings under main contractors and direct estate teams.

For main contractors

Hands-on decorating, phased around live sites.

Variations agreed in writing before delivery. Per-store handover record. Snag status tracked through to sign-off.

  • Active main contractor framework relationships
  • Variations priced and agreed in writing before delivery
  • Per zone handover record across multi store programmes

For estate + FM teams

Live trading stays live. Restoration before replacement.

Survey to handover without closing the unit. Powder coat restoration is specified to the surveyed substrate. Run off, masking and reopening tracked store by store.

  • Out of hours + phased delivery on rolling estate programmes
  • Photo led handover record per store / per elevation
  • DOFF, chemical and jet wash cleaning ahead of any coating

For retail estate leads

Brand consistency, store by store, against the agreed programme.

Brand-matched paint systems against the estate spec. Progress and handover records per store. Programme moves flagged and resequenced with the site team.

  • Multi-store rolling programmes with per-store records
  • Brand matched Dulux Trade specifications
  • Repeat work relationships across Primark · Tesco · M&S

Find the right route

Domestic, retail or industrial.

Most visitors arrive with a sector problem before they know the coating system. These routes match the way buyers search: home and residential work, retail fit out programmes, and industrial painting or warehouse coatings.

Frequently asked

  • How long will the coating last?

It depends on the cladding condition, exposure, preparation and selected coating system. Only manufacturer-supported performance terms for the selected specification apply.

  • Can you match our brand colour?

Yes. RAL or BS colour matched on site. Where estate consistency is the goal, a single reference colour is agreed and applied across all elevations.

  • Can it be done without scaffolding?

Often yes, with tracked MEWPs for low to mid elevations. Agreed at survey based on elevation height, edge condition and reach. Scaffold is specified where MEWPs can't safely access.

  • Can the building stay operational?

Usually yes. Cleaning is the noisiest phase; coating is relatively quiet. Phased elevation delivery means no single phase closes the whole building.

  • What about glazing in curtain wall?

All glazing, gaskets and penetrations are masked before preparation starts and checked at demask before the elevation reopens.
