Dorset
Dorchester is a county town of warm Portland and brick terraces, Victorian villas around the Borough Gardens, and the older cob and rendered cottages you find as you move out towards Poundbury and the surrounding villages. We decorate homes across all of it, from sash window repaints on a period frontage to fresh interior schemes in a Poundbury townhouse. Much of the local housing stock is solid walled and exposed to driving rain off the chalk downs, so exterior masonry and joinery need a coating system chosen for the substrate rather than a single off the shelf answer. Inside, we work room by room so the rest of the house stays liveable while we are there. Every job starts with a proper look at the property and a clear written quote, so you know the scope and the cost before anything begins. We carry £10m Employers' Liability and £5m Public Liability, and our painters are Dulux Academy Trained. Every job follows our no-snag handover policy: every zone inspected and signed off before handover.
Interior walls, ceilings, joinery and detail work for retail, hospitality, healthcare and education. Designer spec literate. Substrate specific paint systems. Two pack capability where the environment demands it.
Faded shopfronts, curtain walls and entrance frames recovered to a matched RAL or BS finish. Works carried out around live trading after substrate testing.
DOFF superheated steam, gentle abrasive cleaning, chemical, jet wash and soft wash cleaning for facades, cladding and hard surfaces, and for residential exteriors: period brick, natural stone, patios, driveways and block paving. Method chosen to the substrate. DOFF and TORC are delivered by our specialist partner inside the A Star package, under our RAMS.
We decorate shops, offices and other working buildings during refits, fit-outs and planned maintenance. Your site keeps trading while we work. Every job comes with RAMS (risk assessments and method statements) written for it, and the finish matches your brand spec. We have decorated Primark, Tesco and M&S stores for main contractors including R.G. Carter, Uplands Retail and Morris & Spottiswood.
Yes. We are based on the Dorset coast and Dorchester is well inside our home patch, along with Poundbury, Charminster, Crossways and the villages out towards the downs. Surveys are usually arranged quickly.
Yes. We decorate one area at a time, keep dust down and clear up at the end of each day, so you keep the use of your home while the work goes on around you.
The quote is free. We come and look at the property, talk through what you want, then send a written quote setting out the scope and the price before any work is booked in.

Where we can, we check access and the state of the surfaces before we price, so the quote matches the real job. Email drawings to office@astardecorators.com, or send photos on WhatsApp.
